The Incomparable Christ
He came from the bosom of the Father to the bosom of a woman.
He became the son of man that we might become the sons and daughters of God.
He put on humanity that we might put on immortality.
He left the region where there are no rivers that ever freeze, winds never blow, frost never bites, flowers never fade. In Heaven no one practices medicine because no one is ever sick; there are no funeral homes for death never comes.
He was born contrary to the laws of nature, was reared in obscurity, and lived in poverty. He had no wealth or political influence. His parents knew nothing of the niceties of social tradition.
In infancy, He startled a king; in boyhood, He puzzled the wise; in manhood, He ruled the course of nature.
He healed the multitudes without medicine, and made no charge for His services. He never wrote a book, yet all the libraries of the world could not contain the books that have been written about Him.
He never wrote a song, yet He has provided more themes for more songs than all earthly writers combined.
He is the Star of astronomy, the Rock of geology, the Lamb and Lion of zoology, the Healer of all diseases.
Great men have come and gone; not Christ, He lives on.
All others have failed—He, never.
He is the ever perfect one, chief among ten thousand times ten thousand and thousands of thousands. The one who is altogether lovely.
“Jesus Christ the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).
