Many Infallible Proofs
One of the “many infallible proofs” (Acts 1:3) given, during the forty days of the “passion” of Jesus, was the FACT that He rose from the grave. The story is told of a certain man that stopped at a store window and for a longtime gazed at a cross in that window. A little boy happened to pass by. He looked at the cross and thought he should explain it to the man. He said, “The man dying is Jesus. He was a good man, but they killed Him.” The man began walking down the street, suddenly he heard the sound of running feet behind him. It was the little boy. The little boy ran up to him and said, “Mister, I forgot to tell you, He arose again.”
JESUS IS ALIVE. The resurrection of Jesus dispels all the sorrow, depression and disappointment in the hearts of His disciples. The Jesus of the cross and the grave is not a bleeding, thorn crowned man, but the risen God! He is radiant with immortal life. God declared the risen Jesus to be the Son of God! God declared the risen Jesus “to be the Son of God with power . . . by the resurrection of the dead” (Romans 1:4). The message of the risen Jesus is simple—“I am he that liveth and was dead; and I am alive for ever more” (Revelation 1:18).
JESUS IS VICTORIOUS. The picture of the resurrection of Jesus is one of triumph! With God’s power He was raised from the dead (Colossians 2:12). It was therefore not difficult for Jesus to be victorious over the grave. Without effort, He arose before the resurrection morn, removed the grave clothes, wrapped up the napkin, and laid everything in place as naturally as we arrange our work (John 20:6-8). Jesus is still a Victor over our foes. Because He is our risen Savior, we “can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).
JESUS IS MIGHTY. In the resurrection Jesus was the one that could say, “all power is given unto me in heaven and in earth” (Matthew 28:18). How powerful! He overcame the power of the Earth and passed through the stone entrance of the grave (Matthew 28:7). He defied the stamp of the Roman governor and sentinels of the Roman army (Matthew 27:65-66). He could pass through closed doors without rendering them asunder (John 20:19). He could raise into the heavens without an effort in the chariot of ascension (Acts 1:19). His power was sufficient to anoint twelve timid men so that they shook the world and laid the foundations of the church (Acts 17:6; 4:12).
