Jesus Christ is unique. The word “begotten” (monogenes) in John 3:16 also means unique—the only one of its kind. First, Jesus is described in the Scriptures as unique. He is the Son of God (Matthew 16:16). He is the Son of man (Matthew 16:13, 27, 28). He is the King of Israel (John 1:49). He is the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last (Revelation 22:13). He is the Amen, the faithful and true witness (Revelation 3:14). He is the Lion of the tribe of Judah (Revelation 5:5). He is the Lamb who takes away our sins (John 1:29). He is the prophet like Moses (Acts 3:22-23). He is the King of kings and Lord of lords (Revelation 19:16). He is the good shepherd (John 10:11). He is the chief shepherd (1 Peter 5:4). He is the light of the world (John 8:12). He is the heir of all things (Hebrews 1:2).
