The teaching of the Bible and Christian morality in American schools and colleges has gone from a very strong emphasis to near zero in our four centuries of existence. From 1620 to 1865 the Bible held a prominent place in the context of textbooks and teaching in our educational system, and the majority of schools and colleges were founded and operated by Bible believers. The influence of secular humanism exerted by atheists and liberals on American courts and educational authorities since the late 19th century has gradually removed the Bible from our schools and replaced it by secularism.
